Psychology in Brisbane and Online

Warm, evidence-based support from our clinical and general psychologists — for children, young people and adults across the lifespan.

Understanding Psychology

Our psychologists provide compassionate, individualised care across Brisbane and online across Australia. Whether you're navigating anxiety, low mood, trauma, or seeking diagnostic clarity through an assessment, we're here to understand your story and support you at a pace that feels right.

How can psychology help me?

Our team works with children, adolescents and adults across a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety — generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobias and worry that's hard to switch off

  • Depression and low mood — persistent sadness, loss of motivation, and difficulty finding enjoyment

  • Trauma and PTSD — processing distressing experiences and their ongoing impact (including EMDR, where suitable)

  • Neurodivergence — affirming support for autistic and ADHD clients, and those exploring their identity

  • Emotional regulation — understanding and managing big or overwhelming feelings

  • Life transitions, grief and loss — adjusting to change and working through loss

  • Self-esteem, identity and relationships — building a steadier sense of self and connection with others

You don’t have to work through things alone

Every person is different, and assessment and therapy is always shaped around you. If you're not sure whether psychology is the right fit, our team can talk it through with you.

Our Approach

We take a collaborative, strengths-based and neuro-affirming approach. That means we start by understanding you — your history, your goals, and the people who matter to you — and build support around your strengths rather than focusing only on a diagnosis. Our psychologists draw on evidence-based approaches and tailor the work to each person, whether that's a child learning to name their feelings, a teenager finding their footing, or an adult working through something long-held. Throughout, our aim is for therapy to feel safe, contained and genuinely supportive.

Comprehensive psychological assessments

  • Our psychologists provide comprehensive mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments, including:

    • Cognitive and learning assessments — using tools such as the WISC and WIAT to understand cognitive ability and academic achievement

    • ADHD assessments

    • Autism assessments

Each assessment is tailored to the person, and may explore:

    • Emotional regulation, trauma history, and attachment relationships

    • Attention, executive functioning, and behavioural patterns

    • Social-emotional development and adaptive functioning

    • Diagnostic clarification for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism

    • Functional impact on daily life, relationships, learning, and self-concept

    • Support for therapeutic planning, Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) reviews, NDIS access, or capacity-building goals

A thoughtful assessment can bring clarity, support access to the right funding and supports, and help you and those around you understand your needs. We provide clear, written feedback and take time to talk through what the findings mean for you.

Psychology across the lifespan ‍

Our psychologists work with people of all ages. For adults, we offer a calm, confidential space to focus on whatever you're carrying. For children and young people, we create a warm, playful and unhurried space, and we work closely with parents and carers as part of the team. We're particularly experienced in supporting neurodivergent clients and families with complex needs.

Medicare rebates and fees

You don't need a referral to see a psychologist privately. If you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, you'll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP — with this, you may be eligible for a rebate on a number of sessions each calendar year with a registered psychologist. We're also able to work with many private health funds and, where relevant, NDIS.

Current session fees are listed on our Fees & FAQs page. If you have any questions about cost or rebates, just get in touch — we're happy to help you work out what applies to you. View fees and rebates

In person and online

We see clients in person at our two Brisbane clinics — Auchenflower and Upper Mount Gravatt — and online via secure telehealth across Australia. Online sessions can suit you if you live regionally, have a busy schedule, or simply feel more comfortable at home.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist? No. You can book privately without a referral. You'll only need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP if you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate.

Can I get a Medicare rebate? With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on sessions with a registered psychologist. Your GP can talk through whether a plan is right for you.

What's the difference between a psychologist and a counsellor? Psychologists are university-trained and registered with AHPRA, and can provide psychological assessments as well as therapy. Both psychologists and counsellors can offer valuable support — the right fit depends on your needs, and our team can help you decide.

What's the difference between a clinical psychologist and a general psychologist? All psychologists in Australia are registered with AHPRA and trained to provide psychological therapy. Psychologists with general registration support a broad range of needs across the lifespan, while clinical psychologists have completed additional specialist training in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions. Both can support you effectively; the best fit depends on your situation.

What happens in the first session? The first session is about getting to know each other. Your psychologist will take time to understand you, what's brought you in, and what you're hoping for — there's no pressure, and you set the pace.

Can sessions be done online? Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions across Australia for many clients. Whether online suits you is something we're happy to discuss.

Psychologists can support children, adolescents, adults, and carers with various mental health, neurodevelopmental and wellbeing challenges.
