Alanna Flanagan
Support Mentor and Therapy Assistant
I am a dedicated Support Mentor and Therapy Assistant with a strong passion for mental health advocacy. I chose to study psychology because I have always been driven to improve people’s lives by providing compassionate, evidence-based support that enhances the holistic and mental well-being of individuals. My current studies have equipped me with the theoretical and practical knowledge to help children and young adults reach their full potential. My goal is to complete a Masters in Clinical Psychology so that I may use my education and skills to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives.
In past roles, I worked as a Supervisor and Personal Assistant which gave me invaluable experience working with neurodiverse staff members and clients. In my role as a Supervisor, I collaborated with neurodiverse staff to ensure they received the necessary support and accommodations to thrive in their roles. This experience equipped me with the skills to understand individual needs and create inclusive environments within the team. Working with clients in my Personal Assistant role also allowed me to develop a nuanced understanding of the various needs and preferences of neurodivergent individuals.
In my spare time, I love to read and watch movies as a way to relax. I also enjoy listening to podcasts and going for runs at the beach. My favourite artist to listen to is Harry Styles, and his catchphrase, ‘Treat People with Kindness’, is my life motto!
