Children and Parenting Support

What is it?

Parents and caregivers often seek therapy to support their children emotionally, socially, and behaviorally. Working with children inherently involves collaboration with their caregivers and families to ensure sustainable therapeutic progress.

Counseling for children and their families offers numerous advantages. It aids parents and children in acquiring new skills and improving family communication, fostering emotional regulation, and promoting positive neurological changes in a secure, expressive, and contained environment.

Our development journey begins even before birth, influenced by our initial interactions with our caregivers. Being an understanding and insightful parent starts with comprehending your own attachment with your caregivers and its impact throughout various life stages. Your relationship with your child and your responses to them profoundly affect their emotional regulation and behavior.

Our team of therapists employs a relational, person-centered approach to parenting, emphasizing the cultivation of healthy attachments, empathy, and the enhancement of emotional expression and regulation within the family. We view you as a 'co-therapist' in supporting your child. Collaborating with parents is a valuable way to instill a sense of safety, self-compassion, and self-esteem in our children. We believe that it's not just about 'correcting' a child's behavior but establishing a strong 'connection.' A child's internal sense of security, shaped by their primary relationships, has the most significant impact on their behavior and interactions with the world.

How can it help?

Upon completing a parent intake session with one of our therapists, we will work with you and your child to provide a safe space, through expressive and dyadic therapeutic interventions to address the concerns you share and acquire effective emotional regulation strategies and tools. We closely collaborate with you as a parent, providing feedback on your child's progress in therapy and teaching you strategies learned during sessions for application in both home and school environments.
